About the Dj

Jef Mallory has been Djing for over 25 years. A talented musicologist, Jef understands how to play the room with an artistic sensibility and a skilled ear for creating moments you’ll remember long after the event is over.
Jef’s exposure to and interest in music began at a young age in church, then moving onto popular music on the radio during long bus rides to school, learning to play guitar, studying jazz and learning to play both tenor and baritone sax in high school, and then joining the underground rave/electronic scene of the 90s and 2000s. Being based in Toronto for almost 30 years – one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world – he has collected an exceptional combination of skills and experiences that give him a unique perspective as a Dj. From successfully rocking a purely roots reggae set in a Jamaican restaurant for a discerning Rastafarian crowd, to burning-down-the-house 50th birthday party sets in private homes till 4am, to sophisticated professional networking sessions in corporate environments, to the marathon of all Dj sets – the full-day wedding. Specializing in open-format sets containing1960s through 2010s pop, funk, soul, disco, rare groove, dance, electronic of all kinds, rock, folk, blues, reggae/dub, classic hip hop, jazz, and afrobeat.
